Steps. Add a helix, zero out start and endpoints, then put them in a cloner that is in radial mode, make four splines from the count. change the orientation so they are parallel. then add a dynamics tab and turn them splines into the soft body, hit cmmd+to go into the preferences and change the gravity to zero and the steps per to 5 and the solver iterations to 12. after this go into the tag and change the soft body tab setting for the all the dampness to 0 and the flexion to 0 also. a few other settings like shearing to 0. Basically, you are making the splines flexible so that when you press play they don't react to gravity and become really felxible. Once you see the simulation, add the Force Field to the centre of the splines then add the spherical fall off to the FF, then increase the remap inner offset to 94%, then change the side of the field so it is more focused on the middle of the splines. so when you press play the field redirects the energy so to speak to the centre as you see in the picture. Once the is done, you might want to set the initial state for the dynamics and cache this. so it's faster in the viewport. then you need to add a circle spline with a sweep object to create the thickness of the string/ropes, I set the circle spline to 1cm radius. 0.5 could have worked, I did try 2 but it didnt work for me. Then I added material from content browser and voila.
(if you look closely the material is the carpet from the hallway of Kubric's Eyes wide Shut 👀)
