First foray into hard-surface modeling...
Steps. Make a cube parametric - shortcut C - use Enable snap, magnet tool! enable more specifically, snap to grid. with the knife tool, makes cuts on one side using the 4-view; accuracy must check the box in the knife in the attributes to be visible for both sides, so as you cut it, it affects both sides, select all the sides you need to bevel with the 4-way view, TOP and FRONT view. You now have to extrude (with the D shortcut) - I should have really beveled as no object has absolute 90-degree angles. Then I added a floor and background with a sweep, the guide object was a spline and a flattened rectangle. added some light then add a Voronoi fracture and a random effector with parameters changed in the rotation and the positions on the default 50cm.
